Praise the Lord for simple reminders: Isaiah 26:3

You will keep in perfect peace he whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in you.

Isaiah 26:3

This is a reminder that I have had written on the white board in my kitchen for at least two years now. Along with Philippians 4:8 and Psalm 62:1-12…this scripture reminds me that my focus needs to be on God.

Last week, I received a message from a friend who was a bit shaken by a moment in life and Isaiah 26:3 was my response to her. When she and I talked a few days later she told me that Isaiah 26:3 was exactly what she needed at that moment, but she also was able to help two others who needed the same reminder.

TRUST first. Then, comes peace.

I find it funny that sometimes the very scripture we use to comfort or counsel another is the very same word of truth I need in the weeks to follow. It’s as if God planted it there so it would already be in the forefront of my heart.

Trusting in my own abilities, my own accounting, my own family or friends, my own knowledge or skills…while those may result in a momentary comfort- true peace comes from trusting the Lord and his plan for me. In HIS knowledge, power, love and abilities.

Thank you Lord for that reminder…again.

(This is unheard of -It was 7:30 am and he is usually up by 6:00 am at the latest!) As I was sitting at the table having some quiet time I heard his voice. My son had turned on SHINE FM and it was playing quietly in his room. He had trekked back up to the top bunk and was laying…singing. “Be strong in the Lord, never give up hope, you’re gonna do great things- I already know. God’s got his hands on you so don’t live life in fear. Forgive and forget, but don’t forget why you’re here…”

This is a painting a made for my son as a gift for Valentine’s Day last year. It hangs in his room as a reminder to him.

What a blessing to hear that sweet little voice this morning. I love that song and MAN, I love that kid.

Praise God from whom ALL blessings flow.
