Simply Scripture: Philppians 4:19

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19

God speaks through the same scripture differently each time, it seems. Today this one caught my attention. My intent as a “Simply Scripture” post is to refrain from adding to the scripture itself, but I want to share this with you today.

Your needs…according to his glorious riches.

Is it possible that some of the things we think are “needs” are just things we have become accustomed to and have convinced ourselves that we can’t live without? For example…I “need” a cell phone. Do I really? I mean, cell phones didn’t even come on the scene until after I was out of college and I got along just fine. Somewhere along the way it became more than a convenience. Likewise, with health, struggles and trials…I may prefer to move past the struggle and be healed. However, the Lord may be meeting a deeper need by keeping me in that situation just a bit longer; clinging to Him, praying, and relying on Him in the process and meeting that need His way….what I REALLY need. My need for Christ.

When God spoke to me through this scripture today, He prompted me to evaluate my needs- or things that I perceive to be needs. When you are in need and pray for those needs to be met…is it possible that God has already taken care of every need you already have- but, our definition and His don’t jive?

When God meets our needs, He doesn’t always do it in the tangible ways that we expect or pray for. Every need we have can be met in Christ…according to God’s glorious riches. Not according to what the world defines as needs or the satisfaction thereof.

God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

He is all we need.
