Let it snow

This morning I am sitting at the table in my kitchen reading in Psalms, Proverbs and Ecclesiastes. I have been struggling with the busyness of the season so Ecclesiastes has been a great place to remind me that most of the busyness is just “stuff”. Psalms reads like my prayer journal and reminds me to look up…God is good. He is my rock and redeemer…my refuge and strength. And Proverbs is full of warnings and good ole fashioned common sense. (Something that one does not hear much of in the world these days.) Sipping my coffee…grounded in God’s word. My fuzzy slipper-adorned feet are planted firmly today.

I just looked up to see that it is snowing again! It is SO incredibly beautiful out there this morning that I can hardly contain myself. As I look out the kitchen window, I see another reminder of the gift of salvation we have in Jesus Christ. That barn red shed in our yard is slowly being covered in a blanket of white, along with the divots in the snow created by children playing, the mounds of dirty snow pushed aside by the plows on the days prior…it’s all being covered and made new. Absolutely stunning. Thank you Lord for this morning!

though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.

Isaiah 1:18

A feeling of peace and contentment just washed over me. I LOVE the Lord and today is another gift: an absolutely extraordinarily beautiful gift.wpid-20131208_070327.jpg

It’s a good day to count blessings.

1215. A card from my “seester” reminding me that God isn’t…

1216. And a Lego likeness of my sister made by my son: Creativity

1217. A snow day with my kids

1218. Two in a rowwpid-20131209_155612.jpg

1219. She cooks

1220. Colorful donuts

1221. Video games, movies and Legos- Oh my!

1222. He shovels with us…a growing boy

1223. A relaxed, peaceful feeling in my muscles, body and soul today

1224. Heat in our homewpid-20131210_074054.jpg

1225. Bible study with my kids

1226. A quiet morning

1227. Snowmen! Inside and out

1228. The smell of a home-cooked meal floating through the house

1229. A fresh blanket of crisp white snow.

1230. Coffee

1231. A beautiful picture of salvation…right outside my window.

1232. An early morning text from a GOod girlfriend…I am so blessed to know her.

Like the snowflakes- each blessing is unique. Each is tailored, molded, fashioned to be unlike any other. Your blessings may not look like mine, but today …if you stop and really focus on what you have and not what you lack…you may find that your blessings are as numerous as these flakes falling from the sky. Scoop them up!

Enjoy this day and the slower pace that snow can bring. Today, as you are sitting in the car as the traffic crawls at a snail’s pace… sitting home on a day off school… having a moment with your children…during cancelled activities…and the times when you are outside and can hear nothing but the scrape of your shovel against the ground…COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS.

Especially this: “…if you stop and really focus on what you have and not what you lack…you may find that your blessings are as numerous as these flakes falling from the sky. Scoop them up!” Yes, such a sweet reminder!! Here’s to scooping with you!
