Faithbook Vs Facebook

imageI did it to myself this morning…started off right, and quickly went wrong. I got up at 5:30am for my quiet time before taking the kids to school and saw an email on my phone. I decided to check it. Then I realized that the government could be “shut down” today. We no longer have TV, so I thought I would get on Facebook and some news outlets to catch up on the happenings. MISTAKE. I never made it past Facebook and now am irritable and down right torqued.

Faithbook, NOT Facebook. THIS is where my day should start. There is no other news, but the Good News, that is more important in my life. Now I need to backtrack.

Start in the Word…not in the World.

Stay focused…

Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Proverbs 4:25-27

Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. TURN MY EYES AWAY FROM WORTHLESS THINGS; preserve my life according to your word. Psalm 119:35-37

Get rid of the irritability that I feel as a result of the current events of the day…

Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32

Today, I got distracted. It happens way too easily sometimes- but in a world with constant information (of the constructive and destructive variety) it really takes a conscious effort to focus on…

…whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me- put it into practice. Ant the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 8:8-9

Lord, turn my eyes from worthless things.
