Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Being SURE…and CERTAIN.
By FAITH we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command so that what is seen was not made out of what is visible. (Hebrews 11:3)
By FAITH…Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. (Hebrews 11:4)
By FAITH…the walls of Jericho fell, after the army marched around them for seven days. (Hebrews 11:30)
By FAITH…Noah built the ark to save his family as God had instructed. (Hebrews 11:7)
Hebrews lists events in Biblical history that were brought to fruition by the Lord using certain people, faithful vessels, who had faith in God and His plan.
By FAITH…you stand firm. (2 Corinthians 1:24)
By FAITH…know that a person is not justified by works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. (Galatians 2:16)
By FAITH…the righteous live (Romans 1:17)
By FAITH…I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)
By FAITH…we live, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7)
I sometimes watch the History Channel when they have the programs on the Bible. I watch cautiously, because I feel that sometimes they replace Biblical truth with their own opinions; and there are even times when I feel like they are trying to prove the Bible wrong. There was one particular episode where a team of scientists were exploring the factual evidence of the Biblical account of Sodom and Gomorrah. During the course of this episode they used modern technology to “rewind” the stars- in conjunction with Earth core samples. Through their research, they concluded that a meteor(s) wiped out the cities and that the event happened as it did in the Bible at the time estimated in the Biblical account. It was kind of neat. Hey, if they want to try to figure out how God did it…they can try, right? Whatever the process, whatever the motive, whatever the outcome, this History Channel show is still just theories of man and should be treated as such. But, for the believer who has put their full FAITH in the Lord…such theories are not necessary. Faith is being SURE of what you hope for and being CERTAIN of what you do not see.
